PRNs could be revised to promote plastics recycling

The government is to review the current PRN system with a view to making it more supportive of plastics recycling.

The claim was made by Lord Taylor of Holbeach, parliamentary under secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs, who was speaking at the Recoup conference ‘Understanding the plastics packaging journey’.

“There will be a review,” he told delegates. “Perhaps there are improvements to be made – perhaps the PRN system could be reformed to better support plastics recycling. Send your proposals to my department.”

A full report on the conference will appear in the next issue of PRW.
