RPC Group has been named Packaging Company of the Year at the annual UK Packaging Awards, held earlier this week in London, with judges describing the company as a “shining example to the industry”.
Judges’ comments on RPC included “remarkable” and “the perfect business model”, concluding that it was the group’s “excellent management and packaging innovation that won over the judges.
“It will be a hard act to follow,” they added.
RPC’s chief executive Ron Marsh said the award was the result of “hard work, commitment and skill of everyone who works within the business, and the strong working partnerships that we seek to build with all of our customers.
“It is marvellous to look back at all that we have achieved in 21 years but as a company our focus has always been on looking forward and seeking continuous improvement in all that we do. This award therefore will serve to spur us on to even greater success and achievements.”
In addition to the Company of the Year award, RPC Containers UKSC and Nexus Packaging were highly commended in the Best Rigid Plastic Pack category for the EcoStacker drum, a new generation of user-friendly large plastic containers incorporating a new anti-glug feature.
RPC is celebrating its 21st year as an independent company following a management buyout of the Reedpack Plastics Group from SCA.
Ron Marsh is to retire in October next year and will be succeeded by finance chief Pim Vervaat.
