CRP, the Littleborough, Greater Manchester-based manufacturer of PTFE and PFA lined piping, has won an award for its export efforts.
The company received the North West Region Outstanding Export Award at the recently-held Future Manufacturing Awards, organised by manufacturers’ organisation the EEF.
Faced with a decline in domestic demand for its corrosion resistant products – used to convey corrosive and toxic chemicals in manufacturing plants around the world – CRP opted to expand into new overseas markets, investing in training, product development, website development and business targeting.
Export sales in 2012 subsequently rose by more than a fifth on 2011’s figure and UK revenue benefited from sales of products developed for export markets.
Speaking about the company’s award CRP’s managing director Nigel Price said: “I am justly proud of the whole team at CRP who have enabled us to win this.
“It is good to see that UK manufacturing can compete around the world, small as well as large businesses. As in all business, the plot is simple: do what the customer wants.”
David Ost, EEF North West Regional director, said: “Manufacturing is vital to economic recovery and companies like CRP are setting the benchmark for success.
“They are achieving growth by exploiting opportunities overseas with a clear, focused, market-entry strategy.”
