A North East plant making vinyl flooring for the residential market is set to close up after a fall off in demand. Armstrong World Industries has entered into a 90 day consultation period with workers at the plant in Thornaby on Teesside. A total of 160 staff work at the plant.

Netherlands-based plastic pipe supplier Wavin has reported Q2 revenue up 8.7% over 2009 to €348.7 million, a like-for-like increase of 5.4%. A spokesman described this as “solid revenue growth following nine consecutive quarters of year-on-year decline”.
