Lego, the Danish plastic toy firm is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the minifigure.
It has launched a website with videos and photos and is encouraging enthusiasts to enter a movie making contest to show their own interpretation of the minifigures’ adventures.
The minifigure started off in 1978 as a largely featureless yellow figure but has since evolved to include realistic characteristics including skin colour and facial hair.
The plastics toy firm has also produced 'famous' minifigure versions of characters from the big screen such as Spiderman, Darth Vader and Indiana Jones.
Last month Lego announced that its half year profits have more than doubled, partly due to the success of its classic and movie/celebrity contracts.
