Single layer PET meat trays from Faerch Plast

Faerch Plast has launched an upgraded version of its single layer PET meat tray. According to the company, MAPET II offers better sealability than its predecessor, MAPET I.

Joe Iannidinardo, managing director of Faerch Plast in the UK, said:  “With MAPET II, instead of adding a top layer, we have used a small amount of special adhesive suitable for food packaging applications around the rim of each tray to ensure that it can be sealed easily.

“At the same time, the quantity of adhesive is so low that there will be no contamination of the waste stream. Of course the fact that the trays are made using post-consumer recycled materials gives them a very low environmental foot-print.”

Conventional meat trays are produced from multi-layer or laminated materials to ensure adequate sealing with film. However, this makes them harder to recycle.
