Fire brigade called to Plastic Omnium plant

By Anthony Clark
Posted 17 December 2012

A fire broke out at the Plastic Omnium Automotive plant in Coleshill near Birmingham early on Sunday morning – three tenders attended the incident.

The blaze, which started in a packaging machine, was extinguished before it could develop into a major incident, said a spokesman for the local fire department.

The blaze, which was reported at 5:12am was out by 6:06, he added. The single storey unit was then ventilated. All the fire crews had left the premises by 8:30.

Nobody was involved in the incident, which was prevented from becoming a major fire by the quick response of the fire brigade, said the spokesman. “There was no escalation,” he explained.
