The “seven dangerous lies about plastic”

By Anthony Clark
Posted 27 February 2012

During one of my regular web searches I came across a feature on a US website, AlterNet, that ‘exposes’ the lies that the plastics industry tells. Yup, you’ve been found out… and what a deceitful bunch you are!

Frankly, I don’t know how you sleep nights or face your families over breakfast, not if the claims made by AlterNet are even halfway true. Just read the following paragraph…

“Taking tactics from Big Tobacco's playbook, the industry engages in bully tactics, politician buys and wide-scale misinformation campaigns meant to confuse the public and turn truth to speculation. Big Plastic is big money and survives regulatory scrutiny by creating big spin.”

That’s right, you bullies, your campaign of misinformation – inspired by the tobacco industry – has been revealed for what it is: Spin. Shame on you, trying to confuse the public by turning ‘truth’ into ‘speculation’.

Worse still, your favourite plasticiser, BPA, has been proven to cause “sexual mutations” and yet you still insist on using it. In fact, I’m betting you’ve exposed little Johnny – or is that Jill? – to it without a second thought.

You can peruse the entire damning expose here. But be warned, it doesn’t make for pretty reading.

Comments:

Presumably the author of the web site has a keyboard that is made of something other than plastic? I dare say he is one of those people we all come across that believes that the only things in life that should be used occur naturally because of course they are inherently safer if they occur in nature, after all was anyone ever harmed by natural products such as Asbestos
