Britvic recalls millions of Fruit Shoot bottles after cap concern

Britvic, the soft drinks giant, has recalled all bottles containing Robinsons Fruit Shoot and Fruit Shoot Hydro after a problem was found with its new cap closure.

In a statement Britvic said: “We have identified we have an issue with a small number of damaged caps.

“As the damaged caps may become fully or partially detached, we recognise that this is a packaging safety issue and believe that a full consumer recall of Fruit Shoot and Hydro is the appropriate course of action.

“The packs that we are recalling are as follows: All Fruit Shoot (regular and low sugar, single and multipacks) and all Fruit Shoot Hydro (single and multipacks).

“We are asking retailers to remove stock from shelf. We have asked consumers to return affected packs to retailers, in line with standard procedures.”

"People who bought affected bottles are being advised to return them to the point of purchase where they will be given a full refund," the company said, adding that it “apologises for any inconvenience”.

Britvic, which claims Fruit Shoot as the number one children's soft drink brand in the UK, said its other Fruit Shoot brand, My-5, was not being recalled.

The soft drink firm describes the new cap, known as a ‘spill-proof MagiCap’, as an “easy to open sports cap”.

The device won an award at the Starpack packaging awards earlier this week.
