IAC invests £3.5m in the UK thanks to JLR orders

Automotive supplier IAC has invested £3.5m at its Solihull and Scunthorpe plants as a result of major wins with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

The company, which purchased five additional injection moulding machine, says the two facilities have “full order book until the early 2020s” as a result of the launch of the new Evoque, along with ongoing production of the Range Rover. Orders are also expected for the new Range Rover Sport, yet to be launched.

“IAC has won the new Range Rover and the new Range Rover Sport business from its customer JLR,” Isabell Auer, IAC’s corporate communications manager, told PRW.

“The business adds content as IAC has managed to secure products that the group had previously not manufactured. To meet the customer's demand, additional manufacturing capacity became necessary. The company bought five brand new KraussMaffei injection-moulding machines ranging from 1,000 to 2,700 tonnes.

“The investment is significant as it will help IAC deliver key cabin trim and exterior products to both the new Range Rover and the new Range Rover Sport,” she added.
