Victrex encouraged by sales and new business development

Victrex, the high-performance polymer producer, has reported third quarter sales volumes marginally ahead of the same period last year.
The Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire-based group said volumes were 750 tonnes for the period, up 0.5%, while the final quarter had kicked off with “encouraging” sales orders and new business development.
“However we are mindful of the economic uncertainty, particularly in Europe, and the impact that could have on our customers,” it added.
Victrex, which specialises in Peek polymer, said it expected to see continued year-on-year growth from its Invibio biomaterial solutions business, “whilst cognisant of the on-going challenges in the US healthcare market”.
The group’s Peek polymer was among those chosen to go into plastic components for NASA’s Juno space probe, which was launched in August last year and is expected to commence orbiting Jupiter in four year’s time.
