Directors buy toddler cup maker Amadeus

Cardiff-based Amadeus Associates, manufacturer of the Anywayup cup for toddlers, has been bought out of administration by four of its directors.
The offer made by their company LTG Drinking Products was accepted by the administrators last month. The offer included LTG taking on some of the liabilities of Amadeus, including royalty arrears to Many Haberman, the licence holder of the innovative technology in the Anywayup cup.
Joint administrators from Grant Thornton were appointed by the directors of Amadeus in January. A letter was sent by the administrators to the creditors of Amadeus, which showed a series of financial losses made by the company from 2006 to 2009. Efforts to secure long term investment failed, the letter said.
LTG is now the third company to manufacture the Anywayup cup and associated range of feeding products. Original manufacturer V&A Marketing became insolvent in 2006.
Amadeus manufactured other baby and toddler products, including the 360 cups, which allow spill-free drinking from anywhere around the brim. The cups won the Consumer Product Design Award in last year’s Plastics Industry Awards, with the judges praising the use of materials as well as the design.
