Retro sweet jar is configured for angled stacking

The Moments milk chocolates feature six fillings: soft caramel, creamy fudge, double chocolate croquant, crunchy praline, orange crisp and chocolate truffle.

The 600g PET jar, conceived by Thorntons in conjunction with RPC Design, is intended to echo a traditional cookie jar to create on-shelf differentiation, with “the glass-like clarity of the PET enhancing the appearance of the multi-coloured wrapped chocolates.”

The jar has been designed to rest at a 45° angle, making the large opening more accessible. The black polypropylene cap from RPC Halstead features a coloured label, and there are also labels in two recessed panels at either side, supplied by Thornton Print and applied on line by RPC Blackburn. The jar is stackable in the angled position, facilitated by a recess in the base and a raised area on the top.

Hannah Legg, brand and customer marketing director at Thorntons, explains: “The twist-wrap confectionery market is highly competitive, especially at Christmas, so we wanted to modern and fresh pack format that with a nostalgic feel that would appeal to customers. It was also important that the pack conveyed the quality image associated with Thorntons and the Moments brand.

“The RPC solution delivers on all these points and we are sure it will make an important contribution to the continued success of Moments.”
