Packaging giant RPC Group has announced the retirement next year of Ron Marsh, its chief executive.
Marsh has been chief executive of the rigid packaging specialist since its stock market float in 1991, having led a management buy-out of the company two years earlier.
He will retire from the business on 1 October next year and will be replaced by RPC’s finance director Pim Vervaat, who joined the business from Corus Distribution and Building Systems, where he had a similar role.
RPC said Marsh and Vervaat would work together during the next 12 months “to ensure an orderly transition of the chief executive role”.
The pair had worked closely on the group’s RPC 2010 restructuring programme, driving efficiencies across the business, as well as the acquisition and integration of Superfos, the Danish packaging firm it bought last year.
