Polymermedics – the German specialist plastics processing group formerly known as Polymeroptix – officially re-opened the doors to its St Austell, Cornwall plant last week after what it called making “substantial investments” in the facility.

More than 100 guests, including existing and potential customers, toured the plant’s production area, which chiefly produces precision components for the medical and pharmaceuticals markets.
Mateo Klemmayer, Polymermedics’ chief executive, said: “I have to thank everyone in the team.
"It is amazing that we invested nearly £2m in our plant and restructured nearly everything without stopping the production, without quality or delivery problems, operating in our current form.”
Steve Taylor, area sales manager of Engel UK, Polymermedics’ strategic machinery partner, said: “We at Engel have been fortunate enough to have seen the Polymermedics factory development evolve from the very early stages to the very impressive clean production center we see before us today.
“You cannot help being impressed by the efficient, professional manner in which the St Austell team has transformed the facility while at the same time maintaining their normal high levels of output and customer service throughout.”
