Eaton Automotive taps engineering talent

By PRW Staff
Posted 3 December 2012

Midlands will be visiting Eaton Automotive, in Brierley Hill, over the next few months to see how car components are made.

During the first visit Steve Harratt from City of Wolverhampton College’s Polymer Training and Innovation Centre, based in Telford, explained how plastic materials are processed and how they can be recycled.

Factory manager Mark Wale said: “This event formed part of our Eaton Blue Week, where we work with the local community on a range of projects. Inviting school pupils in was a completely new thing for us to do but we are hoping to make it an annual event.

“The school children are currently working on a project about how materials are formed and we felt this was a great chance for them to see a local engineering plant in action, and hopefully inspire some of them to think seriously about engineering as a career.”

Harratt added : “It was a real pleasure to work with these youngsters who were excellent ambassadors for their school. They had some interesting questions that I have not been asked before by our usual training course attendees – today may inspire them to take up careers in engineering or polymer processing.”
