India looks to Africa for machinery sales growth

India’s plastics industry is look to Africa for growth – the subcontinent’s sector expect to see a 20% increase in machinery exports to that market within 12 months.
"There is huge potential in the African countries where a lot of industrial growth is taking place. We are currently present in seven countries in the continent and are planning to expand our footprint in Africa," Ranjan Kalyanpur, executive director of the Plastics Export Promotion Council (PEPC), told the Press Trust of India.
The country’s plastics industry is also looking to strengthen its position in the countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) including Romania and Poland. And there are also plans for growth in the Middle East – 150 Indian plastics companies will be attending Arabplast 2013 in January.
During 2011 India exported £95m-worth of machinery to the US, China, European, the Middle East and Africa.
