KraussMaffei (KM), the German machinery manufacturer, has announced the long-awaited shakeup of its UK operations.
In what the group called a “bundling [of] its strengths and expertise for a stronger market presence in the UK and the Ireland market”, KraussMaffei affiliate Netstal UK will shortly move from its current premises in Stone, Staffordshire to Warrington, where KraussMaffei UK is based.
Nigel Baker, who headed Netstal UK as managing director and has worked for the company in various roles since 1988, is to leave the firm.
He told PRW.com: “I support the merger, which is absolutely the right thing for the UK market. I wish all concerned the very best and I’m looking forward to new challenges in my own future.”
KraussMaffei UK sales director Richard Mumford will lead the sales teams for both Netstal and KraussMaffei injection moulding machinery brands, the group said.
Mike Bate, KraussMaffei UK managing director and who will head the combined companies, said in a statement: “By amalgamating the operational business units of KraussMaffei and Netstal under one organisational roof we will be strengthening our market presence.
“We’re bundling the expertise and skills of our employees; strengthening our brand portfolio and improving our range of products and services. This will have clear benefits for our customers”, he added.
Bate said there would be no reduction in the sales, service and spare parts personnel that had been previously available to Netstal’s customer base.
“The former office of Netstal in Stone, Staffordshire, will be closed and the spare parts warehouse will be moved to Warrington within next two months.
"On the contrary, there is now a much larger organisation available to support the needs of our Netstal brand”, he added.
A Germany-based spokesman for KraussMaffei confirmed there would no further job cuts “for the time being”.
Netstal, which has its headquarters in Näfels, Switzerland, became a part of KraussMaffei Group in 1992.
