The dress was made using laser sintering.
Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen presented a dress during Paris Fashion Week made by laser sintering.
The garment was ‘printed’ using a TPU-based powder from Germany’s Lehmann & Voss.
“This is not solely a question of material development,” said Marcus Rechberger, responsible for market development of the powders product group at Lehmann & Voss.
“What we are looking for is close cooperation with service providers, machine producers and OEMs.
"Ultimately, it involves rethinking the design, the manufacture and the sales of products.”
The company’s Desmosint X92A-1 was the chosen sintering material, which was picked because of its strength and flexibility.
