The US Department of Defence (DoD) has ordered $19m (£12m) worth of Avon Rubber’s M50 gas mask for delivery next financial year. The order comes on top of the existing order of 100,000 masks per year. Avon has a ten year contract to supply the DoD with the M50 which runs until 2016. So far Avon has delivered more than 600,000 of the M50 JSGPM masks. The M50 will eventually replace all existing masks across the four services of the US armed forces. Chief executive Peter Slabbert said: “This award demonstrates the accelerating demand for our world leading product and gives us excellent revenue visibility against this contract for 2012.’’ Avon will release its preliminary statement for the financial year ending 30 September 2011 on Wednesday 23rd November 2011. The company reported in May that operating profits increased on the first six months to 31 March despite revenues being down. This was mainly attributed to an increase in non DoD orders. [ Back ]
