Leading Russian PVC producer JSC Sayanskkhimplast is expanding its vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) capacity with the purchase of a dichlorethane pyrolysis oven.
The company, based in Sayansk, Irkutsk region, is investing €65m to acquire the oven, designed by the German firm Uhde. The equipment is expected to provide the Russian polymer producer with capacity of around 200,000 tpa, it said.
Groundwork for the equipment is being carried out at the plant site in Sayansk and the oven is scheduled to be commissioned and operating by September 2010.
The unit will be gas fuelled and employ technology from Vinnolit, part of the Russian industrial group Renova Orgsyntes Holding.
Aside from VCM, Sayanskkhimplast also produces a range of downstream products including soft cable compounds, corrugated pipes, wall panels and PVC cable conduits.
