Lanxess and the NTDA launch tyre labelling help

Lanxess is partnering with the National Tyre Distributor’s Association (NTDA) to ensure tyre dealers and wholesalers across the UK have everything they need to understand the mandatory tyre labelling that comes into force on 1 November.
The labelling system, which requires anyone selling tyres to provide information about each tyre’s fuel efficiency, wet braking distances, and external noise levels at the point of sale, presents both opportunities and challenges for tyre dealers and independent garages, according to Lanxess.
“Tyre labelling is going to change the tyre industry forever,” said Kim O’Connor, Lanxess’ UK representative. “Customers are going to be asking a lot more questions about the tyres they buy and they will expect their suppliers to know the answers.
“For those suppliers who don’t have sufficient information it will become more difficult to accurately guide motorists on the choices they make and maintain the necessary and important trust that encourages future business opportunities. For those that educate themselves and make the most of the changes to demonstrate their understanding of the sector, it will be a great opportunity to grow and develop.”
The NTDA and Lanxess are providing written materials for the UK tyre press, an online video explaining how tyre labels work and an application for iPhone, iPad, Android devices as well as PCs that enables garages and fitters to demonstrate the amount of money different tyres can save their customers.
