Owen Mumford is commissioning a new bespoke machine for assembling and packaging its award-winning Unistik 3 blood sampling product at the company’s Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire manufacturing facility.
The machine is tailor-made to Mumford’s precise specifications. Until now, the company has employed two different machines for assembly and packaging, and the new machine is designed to enhance efficiency.
The original concept came from the engineering team at Owen Mumford, led by Mike Bridgman, general manager of the Lancet Production division. It underwent five years of planning and development with designers in France.
Mike Bridgman said: “This will make a significant difference to production volume and efficiency, with an overall increase of 30% in the output of Unistik 3 units. Since I began working for Owen Mumford, over 11 years ago, production has increased sevenfold, with hundreds of millions of Unistik devices now manufactured every year.”
