TenCate opens new 'centre of excellence' in Nottingham

The facility now housed a carbon-free manufacturing line, dedicated to the production of electrically-pure materials.

Thermoplastics specialists TenCate Advanced Composites has announced the opening of its European Centre of Excellence for thermoset prepreg systems in Nottingham.

The firm said the opening followed that it called a period of “significant investment” in the UK operation, with growth seen across its AmberTool tooling prepreg systems and advances in automotive, F1 and motorsport markets.

The group’s capabilities had been further enhanced, it said, with the award of AS9100 certification for its standardised quality management system for the aerospace and automotive industries.

The capacity of the UK facility has now been doubled, TenCate said, although it declined to give details.

The facility now housed a carbon-free manufacturing line, dedicated to the production of electrically-pure materials.

The opening of the extended factory was described by Frank Meurs, group director at TenCate Advanced Composites, as a “significant milestone”.

“Our commitment to serve the European markets with outstanding customer service and certified quality is now further enhanced with high tech, high spec materials and solutions,” he added.

Nick Tiffin, director of sales and marketing of TenCate Advanced Composites, said the opening signified the next chapter in the group’s penetration into the European aerospace market with thermoset technologies.

“The combination of our facilities in the UK and North America position TenCate to be a partner of choice for thermoset composite materials.

“Furthermore, our market leading thermoplastic capabilities enable us to provide total composite material solutions to our customers on a global scale.

“Combined with excellent customer service, our high spec products have enabled us to gain qualified positions at leading OEMS and their tiers.”
