Reifenhäuser, the German-based extrusion machinery specialist, said it sold five cast film lines last year, equipped with its new Midex-HSD winder model, for producing cast polypropylene packaging film.
In Europe, the company said, many producers preferred finished film rolls that can be directly processed after storage, without the need for rewinding and slitting. Outside of Europe, jumbo rolls were preferred.
The new design of the Midex-HSD winder can handle large reel diameters of up to 1,200mm.
“The reel is no longer moved by a rotating arm or turret mechanism, but slides horizontally onto the machine frame as the diameter is growing,” said the firm's Mark Borutta.
“The working principal of the horizontal slide winder enables considerably higher reel loads to be taken up.”
