Ilapak, a manufacturer of packaging machines for flexible films, has introduced a new flow-wrap solution to help reduce plastic films usage.
The company has developed a new coating which allows plastic flow-wrap machines to also run paper films, further supported by folding cardboard feeder trays.
The product is food safe and targeted at wrapping for fresh fruit and vegetables.
“Finding an alternative that is cost-effective and matches the performance of plastic films is not an easy challenge,” said Christian Romualdi, marketing communications manager.
Romualdi added that development of the product included tests on a variety of machines to ensure ‘glitch-free running’.
The company, which is based in Uxbridge, Middlesex, states the products are based on the Carrera flow wrapping platform.
