Counterplas has revealed the results of a £750,000 round of capital expenditure at the technical injection moulder.
Since moving to a new site in south Staffordshire in August 2018, the company has increased its fleet of injection moulders to 19 units, ranging from 70 to 1,600 tonnes. The latter can deliver a shot weight of up to 12kg.
Further capabilities include 2K, twin-shot capability and gas injection technology for lightweight parts.
The company is expecting delivery of two further 1,200- and 1,500-tonne machines over the summer, both featuring automation cells and gravimetric dosing systems.
This range of equipment will further support development and manufacturing of products using recycled materials.
Speaking about the company expansion, company MD Paul Isherwood, said: “Having so much additional space [in the new location] has allowed us to specialise in the production of much larger products. Our focus will be to attract new clients looking to manufacture such components in the UK, and as such, we are looking to invest in additional high-tonnage machinery.”
Counterplas has worked with customers from a series of sectors, including specialist healthcare and DIY. The company recently developed an award-winning loft stilt product range, which is now being produced in high volumes.
