Essentra Components has started deliveries of plastic injection moulded gas bottle caps to Air Liquide.
The caps are needed to reduce dust and dirt touching the valve. Previous solutions were an off-the-shelf product which, due to poor fitting, would fall off and leave the bottle valve vulnerable to damage and contamination.
Essentra Components designed a custom-made thread protector using 3D prototyping which followed Air Liquide’s specific requirements.
The Kidlington-based moulder is using LDPE for production of the caps, as it is flexible and allows straps to hold the bottles in place. Additionally, the caps offer tamper evidence when broken.
A spokesperson at Air Liquide commented: “Essentra Components helped us to improve our customer service and enhance delivery. Their extensive knowledge and expertise have ensured that all orders are received intact, resulting in increased customer satisfaction and no further complaints.”
Tooling used to produce the gas bottle caps can make four different sizes to suit different valves. The parts can be customised with company logo and other identifying information.
The caps help to protect the gas bottles while in storage, through to logistics processing and delivery.
