Fibrax, the Wrexham-based rubber and plastics injection moulder, has installed a new Shini SG-50 sound-proof granulator.
The new addition will be used to process rubber waste generated at the company facility in Wales.
The new Shini hardware is part of company efforts to put a closed-loop recycling strategy in place for thermoplastics.
The £20,000 investment in the new granulator will help to divert waste from landfill and third-party recyclers and into value-added waste streams.
Product delivered from the new granulator can be used across the sports and leisure industries.
Commenting on the investment, material technologist Jonathan Coupe, said: “By installing the Shini SG-50 granulation system, we are able to process EPDM rubber waste effectively and create a quality material for manufacturers of safety play surfaces, 3G sports pitches and equestrian arenas. This investment will reduce our waste management costs and create products that will go directly back into the supply chain.”
