Devon based injection moulding specialist Hymid Multi-Shot has expanded its production capacity with the purchase of a new Arburg Allrounder injection moulding machine.
The 440-tonne machine is part of an on-going programme of investment at the company.
The Allrounder can process material with a shot weight of up to 607 grams at an injection pressure of 2,000bar. The platen size is 1,171x1,171mm.
“We’re investing to ensure we remain competitive in the UK market,” said Hymid MD Tom McMurtrie. “We’re known nationally as a two-shot and over-moulding specialist, but we have found our clients need flexible production options.
“This machine expands our offer into larger format, single-shot production, which means we’re now a competitive choice for clients looking to single-source a product range that includes large components and products, or high impression tooling.”
In addition, the new Allrounder is fitted with an integrated Arburg Multi-lift robot and conveyor for material handling.
Hymid recently used the new IMM together with its two-shot machines to produce products for the Centrica Hive smart home product portfolio.
According to McMurtrie, the capability of the new IMM will allow Hymid to better scale and support new product launches, while also being able to fulfil large-scale production projects for clients requiring one-off production or additional capacity.
