Dublin-based JL Goor Materials has entered into a branded distribution agreement with ExxonMobil to distribute hexene-based rotational moulding resins in Ireland and the UK.
The new resins join a portfolio of ExxonMobil products distributed by JL Goor Materials, including performance polyethylene and other polymers.
“ExxonMobil has been producing market-leading rotomoulding resins for over 30 years and has a long-term vision and commitment to the rotomoulding industry which we believe will greatly benefit our UK and Irish customers,” said Gearoid Clarke, managing director at JL Goor Materials.
“This is the first time ExxonMobil has exported rotomoulding resins from the Americas and our customers can rely on their quality and dependability.”
The rotational moulding resins offer a broad operating window, with an optimal balance of stiffness, toughness and low-temperature impact strength. The resins are formulated with UV stabilisation to support extended part life.
“With many European supply enquiries in recent years, we are very excited about working with JL Goor Materials to support rotomoulding innovation in Ireland and Great Britain,” said Peter Noble, chemicals business manager, ExxonMobil Chemical Canada.
He continued: “JL Goor Materials is highly respected in the industry for its technical expertise and logistics capability, making them an excellent partner to showcase the benefits of our high-quality and proven dependable rotomoulding resins.”
The announcement covering distribution of ExxonMobil rotational moulding resins by JL Goor Materials follows recent approval of a $2bn expansion project at the global polymer producer’s plant in Baytown, Texas.
The investment will see major capacity expansions for elastomer and specialty olefin production.
The project will include a new 400,000-tonne per annum unit for production of the Vistamaxx polyolefin elastomers. Another new 350,000-tonne unit will be constructed for production of LAO materials, used in industrial oils and waxes, and as building blocks for surfactants.
Products from the new units are expected to come on stream in 2022.
