Ascend Performance Materials will introduce a series of new specialty polymers at the upcoming K Show 2019, to be held 16-23 October at the Messe Dusseldorf.
The company, which is described as the largest fully-integrated producer of P66, will outline how it plans to expand production capacity to keep pace with the demand.
Among the company’s new products are high-heat and long-chain polyamides and an anti-microbial polymer for fibre production. Ascend will also unveil an expanded range of recycled-content offerings, plus flame-retardant grades of its Vydyne P66.
Commenting on the expansion plans, Scott Rook, senior vice president of Ascend’s commercial division, said: “Our adiponitrile expansions will keep pace with increasing demand for PA66 and support our growing specialty polymers and chemicals businesses.”
Ascend is currently working on a 90,000-tonne ADN expansion at its facility in Decatur, Alabama.
In addition, in 2018 the company started production at its first site outside the US, located in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
At the K Show, Ascend will further outline how it is planning to support sustainability efforts. In addition to energy and emissions reduction, Rook said the company is committed to achieving additional related gains.
“We’re in advanced discussions to implement co-generation units at our Decatur plant, and we’ve expanded our recycled-content product portfolio,” said Rook.
At K Show 2019, Ascend will be located in Hall 6, Booth A07.
