Global polymer producer and solutions specialist Covestro has revealed plans about what the company plans to demonstrate at the upcoming K Show.
The K fair will be held 16-23 October at Messe Dusseldorf, Germany.
The German polymer giant will be showing a series of innovations related to adding customer value, while looking to reduce related impact on the environment.
A key part of this will look at the potential of the circular economy and how improved management of finite fossil fuels will lead to improved sustainability.
“Within our company, we want to establish material cycles along the entire value chain, from suppliers, to production and logistics, to the use of our products and their reuse,” explained CEO Dr. Markus Steilemann.
This includes a review of the potential for new recycling technologies, including chemical recycling which, the company states, ‘requires additional support’.
To support this, plant waste (including CO2), are worth considering as alternatives to fossil resources. Covestro reports that the company has already achieved ‘numerous successes’ in these areas.
In addition to these recycling initiatives, a show highlight will be an interior concept looking at future mobility. This is intended to make the vehicle interior into a multi-functional, mobile living and working space.
Speaking about the concept, project leader Jochen Hardt, said: “[The concept interior] involves functionality, comfort and design in equal measure, as well as efficiency.”
As well as being fully networked, the interior will offer new design features with surfacing and decorative treatments, together with integrated ambient lighting and the latest seating concepts.
Textiles will also be featured on the Covestro stand at K 2019. Specifically, the company will show the Cardyon product. Developed in conjunction with RWTH Aachen University, the material can be used in a wide variety of applications, including mattress foam and the base layer of sports fields.
The partners are currently working on developing industrial scale production based on sustainable resources, with the goal of supplying the textile and garment industries.
While visiting K 2019, Covestro can be located in Hall 6, booth A75.
