Engel has announced that it will premiere its new iQ weight control system at the upcoming K Show.
The K fair will be held between 16-23 October at Messe Dusseldorf.
The new addition to the iQ suite is billed as an ‘intelligent assistance system’ for injection moulding processes using recycled material.
The system will help to support circular economy efforts across the plastics industry.
In use, iQ weight control individually adjusts quality-related process parameters for each injection shot to suit the material.
The system has been available for use with systems using virgin material since 2014, but this is the first time it will be used with recycled polymers. Recycled material normally yields greater batch variations.
The system has been put through a rigorous programme of testing by Engel and recycling specialist Erema, using pelletised PP geotextiles.
“The tests confirmed that iQ weight control maintains a constant melt volume throughout the production process,” said Paul Kapeller, product manager for digital solutions at Engel.
At the K Show, Engel will be located in Hall 15, B42-C58.
