Blow moulding specialist Melba Swintex is to move operations from its current site.
The company, which has been located at the present plant in Bury since Melba bought Swintex in 2011, will be moving to a 17-acre site about six miles away in Ramsbottom (also in Bury).
The new Stubbins Vale Mill location was previously home to Voith Paper Fabrics.
The move was necessitated by on-going growth of the business and issues related to delivery of power to run the blow moulding machines.
In a feature published by PRW in March, Paul Harrison, finance director at Melba Swintex, noted that any change of location would allow the company to rationalise production. This would likely include new automated processes.
The series blow moulder manufactures a range of products, including various traffic management items, such as road cones and barriers.
Melba Swintex is anticipating that the new site will be up and running at the start of 2020. The move is not expected to cause any interruptions to customer deliveries.
